Liquid Stainless Steel- Get Stainless Steel Finish – Right Out of a Can!

Are you getting your home ready to sell? Call me for ideas on how to get the most return on your investment. Lea Jensen 905-891-8089

Are you getting your Oakville or Mississauga area house ready to sell this Spring? Here is a nifty new product geared toward making the most of your renovations, big or small. Liguid Stainless Steel . I read an article about it in the Globe and Mail in the section under ‘New Products’.

The author of the article Elizabeth Rand-Watkinson pointed out that she saw it in one of the design magazines and the ad called it “the world’s first brush-on stainless steel for your home”. For a look at the process or if you want to send away for a sample you can go to www.liquidstainlesssteel.com .

How To Use Liquid Stainless Steel

You apply micro pieces of metal in an automotive-grade resin with a roller or brush. Then you put on one or more layers of a clear topcoat, depending on the amount of shine desired. It produces an automotive-grade finish, it’s as durable as the finish on your car . It is also quick-drying and can be applied to glass, brass, chrome, wood, metal and plastic. So it is perfect for appliances, including ranges and toasters. I think it would be wonderful to update that old backsplash you thought you had to replace. What a great way to give your kitchen an instant updated look!

A complete kit, enough to coat a stove, dishwasher and refrigerator, costs $129 and is available from the website.

Another option for the do-it-yourselfer is the Krylon line of spray paints for metal appliances or plastic surfaces.

Christmas Curb Appeal- Selling Your Home Over the Holidays

Christmas is a great time to give your home extra appeal inside and out when selling your home. The rule of thumb is to keep it non-religious so you do not offend any other religious denominations. Using fresh greenery in wreaths on doors and urns are always crowd pleasers. There is nothing more uninviting than walking up to a front door and seeing dead flowers from the summer or frozen black earth in a discoloured flower pot/urn.

When decorating inside, think simplicity and in themes to keep your home looking current and up to date. Reproduce/copy a colour accent throughout the rooms or connecting rooms. If your accent is red, then don’t try to introduce blue in the same room or connecting room. Accent pieces like throw pillows, or accent curtains are a great way to brighten up the holiday time (but in the same colour). Also keep things simply, and think symmetry. Decorating in threes (3’s) is a good rule to use. Instead of putting one candle on a mantel or table, put out three candles, or two groups of threes on either side . Instead of putting out one large vase with flowers on a table, put out three smaller ones (but keep the flowers one of a kind per vase). Don’t forget to add a little holiday cheer to your bathrooms and bedrooms as well!

Getting Your House Ready To Sell: Tips on Selling Your Home

On th Oprah show yesterday , Oprah had her favourite designer Nate Berkus on with a challenge: to help a family sell their home, the house has been on the market for a while and nothing happening. He has 10,000 to turn the house around.
Nate said on the show that there are two things you should do if NOTHING else- paint your house with a fresh coat and replace carpet.

Here is his list of things to do to help sell your home:

Send extra clutter to self storage.
Add a personal touch to your home by displaying family photos.
Make small repairs, otherwise buyers may think there are bigger problems they can’t see.
Update cabinets with fresh paint and new hardware.
Don’t push all your furniture against the walls—it doesn’t make a room look bigger.
Upgrade using inexpensive, high-quality materials.
Paint walls a warm, inviting color.
Replace your carpet. It’s an easy, inexpensive upgrade.
Fresh flowers and scented candles add ambiance.
Upgrade appliances in your kitchen—it’ll add overall value to your home.
