Mississauga Introduces Free Wireless Internet in All Libraries

Free Wi-Fi In all Mississauga libraries.

The City of Mississauga is introducing free wireless Internet access in its libraries, community centres and arenas through its wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) network.

“The City is offering our facility visitors a truly convenient service,” said I.T. director, Jack Lawrence. “Making each public facility a “Wi-Fi Zone” will allow users to work online while visiting a community centre, arena or library. This service will be especially useful for students studying in our libraries and for parents who wait in our community centres and arenas while their children participate in City programs.”

The wireless Internet service can be accessed by visitors who bring notebook computers with wireless capability to City facilities. To log on to the City’s Wi-Fi network, visitors will require a valid Mississauga library card number and the last four digits of their phone number. New library patrons can access this service one business day after receiving a library card.

The City of Mississauga introduced free wireless Internet access in the Central Library as a pilot in October 2006 and its usage steadily increased over a one-year period. Currently, half of the City’s facilities offer free wireless Internet access and the remaining half will be “Wi-Fi Zones” by May 2008. A list of facilities currently offering Wi-Fi service as well as a list of upcoming Wi-Fi installations can be found at www.mississauga.ca/wireless.

Mississauga is Canada’s sixth largest city with a population of more than 700,000. With well-established infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities, the City is considered to be an employer of choice, delivering quality municipal programs and services to its citizens. Mississauga is a dynamic, diverse and progressive municipality, known for its economic strength and for being Canada’s safest city.

More ways to increase the sale price of your home on a limited budget. When you sell your home one of the first steps to putting in on the market is making it as appealing as possible to buyers. There are things you can do- for not a lot of money that will give your home immediate curb appeal and won’t break the bank.

1. Check The Flooring of Your Home.
Look for any kind of damage ( cracked hall and kitchen tiles, worn rugs, scratched hardwood floors)

2. Walls. Fill any cracks, dents, holes in drywall and fix ripped or torn wallpaper.

3. Bathroom, Consider new windows, fixtures or door for your bathrooms. A new countertop will also do wonders.

4. Accents- You can give your home an updated look with inexpensive interior accents- new throws, pillows, a vase in a trendy colour can punch up the look of a boring room.

Update Your Light Fixtures

Take a look at your ceilings. Do you have a tarnished brass “look” chandelier in your dining room? Do your kids bedrooms have the same light fixtures you did when you were a kids? Think about changing the fixtures.

It can be done fairly cheaply and is easier than you think. It is a job that can easily be done in afternoon. If you have any doubts at about your ability then hire an electrician.

What kind of light fixtures should you buy?
Make sure they fit style of your room. An ultra modern design in a traditional looking library will look odd. Keep colurs neutral. Don’t get a pick fixture that matches your daughters bedroom- potential byers don’t just have daughters.

Choose The Right Paint Colour Palette for 2008 to Get a Bigger Return on the Sale of Your Home

Are you getting ready to sell your house and are wondering the best way to get a great return on the dollars you spend? Whether you are trying to ‘wow’ potential buyers or simply want to get into the spirit of freshening up your home for spring, the new colours for 2008 can do the trick! Green is the new “neutral” with all the focus around living an eco-friendly lifestyle bringing outdoors indoors. The new choices are more botanical, drawing from sage, pine and moss. The browns are reminiscent of soil, sand and deep rich earth. Other neutral colours found in nature are being embraced as well, such as the beautiful hues found in stones, the beige’s found in sand and wood. The golden, warm hues of sunrise are also in play. Paint colours include fern greens, warm, red infused browns, tan-tinted yellows, mushroom inspired colours, and gray or brown neutrals with hints of green, pink, yellow and red. These calming colours are great choices for bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms and more open-concept living spaces allowing you to use more than one neutral ‘beige’ colour to paint your whole house and give it instant ‘decorator appeal’ for the majority of buyers.
